TYK build process

Hi Everyone

We are trying to upgrade TYK opensource to v4.3.4. We found below two ways to do the same:

  1. Compiling TYK from source code from release v4.3.4
  2. Picking deb file for the same version from ubuntu/bionic/tyk-gateway_4.3.4_amd64.deb - tyk/tyk-gateway · packagecloud

but the issue is we are getting different sizes of build artifacts ,when compiling from source code it is 60 mb & same from deb file is 75 mb.

So which of the above is recommended for upgrading TYK ?

Also should we also create deb file (when compiling from source), if yes then what are the steps for that?

This depends on your environment constraints or requirements. How did you install Tyk the first time and what was the reason for choosing that?

We serve the compiled packages as an additional choice to our users for convenience. The decision ultimately depends on you.

I have no experience with this. Maybe someone else could chime in here.
