Update or backup of the config file when updating from repo

As far as I can tell when updating tyk from the repo (yum in my case), this overrides the tyk.conf file. This is made worse by the fact that the service is auto-restarted with the new file as config which is unknown what effect will have.

Ideally the update process should just add/remove fields from the existing config file, but can we at least get a backup of the existing file before it’s completely replaced?

We’re aware of the issue - we do recommend everyone backup their files though

Indeed, I actually moved the files to /etc/tyk and linked them in the /opt folder to prevent this kind of scenario, but was still surprised to see that the gateway would not start after update and it just bombed my old config.
