🚨 Tyk Cloud Free is going away on Dec 31st, 2022

Tyk Cloud Free is reaching the end of its life! As of December 31st 2022, we will discontinue Tyk Cloud Free as a service and provide no further technical support. On this date, existing users of Tyk Cloud Free will no longer be able to access or use the product.

WHY ARE WE DOING THIS NOW?

We have decided to sunset the Tyk Cloud Free plan because since we launched it, we’ve quickly learned that most users want short-term trial accounts instead.

When we launched the product, we believed that we would develop a community of users getting value from the ongoing free plan. We were excited about the prospect of building the next generation of API innovators and hackers.

However, after six months, we’ve found that almost all free plan users treat their account as a trial and leave after a couple of weeks. So we need to rethink our plans and find better ways to meet the needs of our users.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?

There are only a few weeks before Tyk Cloud Free shuts down, so if you have a Tyk Cloud Free account, now is the time to act if you want to continue to enjoy the Tyk experience. We want to make this transition as smooth as possible.

From December 1st 2022, we’re directing new signups to the trial accounts that have proven so popular.

We’re offering discounts for upgrades to our paid service to those currently on the free plan. We will support current account holders with discounted routes into a full commercial package or routes onto open source if you prefer.

If you want to test Tyk’s capabilities, we still offer a fully featured five-week trial for which you can sign up.

If you have any comments, questions or feedback, we’d love to hear from you. You can email us at [email protected] or simply reply to this post.

THANK YOU

We’re sorry our experiment didn’t work out, but we’re glad we had the opportunity to try - thank you for being part of it.

We’re committed to innovation and experimentation, and we’re sad it didn’t work out this time. We hope it hasn’t negatively implicated your plans, but if it has, let us know, and we’ll find a way to make it right!
